A House In Order

It’s often easy to let some things get away from you because of your busy schedule.

Whether you’re knee-deep in work, travel, or life in general, things really start to pile up and can quickly get out of control.

For example, because of my schedule, I’m often away from home and even if it’s a short trip, things really start to get hairy!

When I get home, the mail is stacked up, the butterfly garden needs tending, pool needs water, household maintenance demands attention… you know the drill.  And to be honest, sometimes after a long period of burning the candle, you just want to sit on your, “blessed assurance,” for a couple of day’s and do… nothing!  In today’s culture rest is an often overlooked premium.  Yet, believe it or not, it’s crucial to your health and wellbeing.  I used to take one day a week out for a day of rest, or Sabbath.

See, the Bible tells us that after the sixth day of creation, even God rested!  The word“Sabbath” is derived from a Hebrew word which means, rest.  In the book of Exodus (20:8) we are reminded to, “remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.”  When I followed that advice, the rest of my week seemed to be less taxing and I was much more productive.  The fact is, sometimes we all get distracted and find ourselves ignoring good advice, making excuses, and ending up… out of sorts.  And as I can personally attest, if you don’t take a break from busy, busy will break you!

Most people see me as this energetic, health conscious, unstoppable force who is always, creating, speaking, and traveling.  Essentially, that’s what I am, but recently I encountered a situation that cooled my jets a little.  When you travel a lot and stay in hotels, you don’t always eat right, sleep enough, and believe it or not, according to some interesting research, when you fly 6 hours or more at altitudes above 35,000 feet it affects your intestinal flora.

So after a few coast-to-coast flights in a row, I started having some stomach issues.  I would immediately pop in my earphones and listen to, 741Hz (Great Awakening) from Wholetones, and the pain would subside.  On my recent trip to Seattle, however, I had a really uncomfortable pain in my abdomen and assumed I had picked up a stomach bug. Once I listened to 741Hz or led worship at the event, the pain quickly subsided.  When I arrived home, after 3 days I felt really tired and started running a fever, the next day, the fever rose to 103.5 and I went to the doctor and was told that I had diverticulitis!

Now I knew the gravity of the situation.  But I had a major recording session in Dallas that required me to drive from Florida to Texas just 3 days later.  The doctor said he would do his best to keep me out of the hospital, but if the fever didn’t break, all bets were off.  Thankfully, the fever broke on Tuesday and on Wednesday, my wife and I loaded up the truck and headed to Dallas.

I’m home now, listening to “The Dallas Sessions” (details to follow soon).  This stuff is really amazing and I can’t wait to share it with you… also, I cancelled my next trip to California to REST and RECOVER.

One of the lines in the 23rd Psalm has taken on a new meaning lately:

“He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.”

You see dear friend, Father knows best!  Sometimes when you’re a driven soul, who refuses to rest, He will force you to lie down… and heal.

Thus, in this week’s title, “A House In Order,” I’m a health and wellness advocate, a creative force and the author, caretaker and spokesmen for Wholetones.  I’m also sadly… human and in order to keep running with this message, my physical house must be in order.

That said, you will soon enjoy the fruit of this year’s labor and announcements for two new projects due out before Christmas will be forthcoming… and with renewed health and vigor, I will be ready to carry them to the world!

Wholetones is literally changing people’s lives around the globe and I can tell you that they have been playing 24/7 in my home and I am reaping the benefits.  So, take a page out of God’s play book and run with it, after you put in 6 days of hard work… take a “Holy Day,” or Sabbath, spend at least one entire day resting, enjoying the ones you love, and give thanks to God, who gave you life and before you know it, YOU will be a house in order!

Until next week…
