Fun With Politics… NOT!

Dear Wholetones family,

Hope you are having a super Tuesday! I thought I might take this opportunity to sprinkle a little peace into a seething pot of turmoil and contradiction. Yes, friends, it’s an election year and it appears the cuckoo has left the clock! I knew it was going to be an ugly, contentious race, but when every other post on Facebook became an angry political assault (complete with BOLD CAPS) my wife was the first in our family to suspend her account. Remember, everything has a frequency and there are some bad vibes being broadcast on every media outlet. How we respond to the negatives we encounter will determine the life we will live. When things get dark, answer with light; when times are evil, respond by doing good; and when chaos screams for attention, embrace the peace of silence.

The truth is that politics are no fun, by definition!  The word politics means “activities within an organization that are aimed at improving someone's status or position and are typically considered to be devious or divisive.” It is like the difference between being nice or kind. A “nice” person does whatever they need to do to make people like them. A “kind” person is motivated solely by compassion with no expectation of a return on their investment. The reason I wrote this article is simple: to encourage you to take a step back from all the turmoil. Life is full of challenges—if I can help one person from getting sucked into the political vacuum of the next election, I have done my job!

Truth be told, Washington D.C. has a “God shaped” problem that no man or woman can fix without Him. When we open the lens, a greater revelation appears. While man’s government appears to be absolute, it is merely a drop ceiling beneath a sovereign government that has no end.

Isaiah 9:6 says For to us a Child shall be born, to us a Son shall be given; And the government shall be upon His shoulder, And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Technically, if you are a believer, you have dual citizenship! We are “in” the world (ethnos) yet not “of” (origin) it. We are citizens of the Earth and at the same time, we are citizens of Heaven!

Philippians 3:20 says For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dear friends, you are not under ANY obligation to tell anyone who you are voting for, to defend you favorite candidate on social media, or to get frustrated watching the lame debates. Instead, pray that your candidate will defend our constitution, protect our borders, and preserve the rights of we, the people!

Bottom Line: Be excellent at what is good and be innocent of evil. If you find yourself getting stressed, worried, or angry, or detect a sudden elevation in your blood pressure, remember this—you have Wholetones! Turn off your TV (unless you decide to play “Chroma,” of course!), sit in your favorite chair, turn on Wholetones, close your eyes, and remember that God is on the throne, His administration never changes, and His policies are out of this world!
